IDs Released Following Double Deadly Fires In York County: Coroner

The identities of man and a woman who died in two separate fires in York County within two hours of each other on Monday, January 16, 2023 have been released, authorities say.

The first fire happened in the 1300 block of Roundtop Road of Warrington Township around 3 p.m., according to the state police. 

A couple in their 70s lived alone in the home and the 72-year-old Lewisberry wife was pronounced deceased at the scene but Deputy Coroner Michele Kirchner at 3:57 p.m.

It is unclear if the woman died from a medical event or smoke from the fire, the coroner's office says they will conduct additional tests. 

She was later identified as Bonnie Myers, in an additional release by the coroner's office.

The fire started in the garage in a wooded stove used to heat the water in the house, according to a release by the coroner's office.

The second fire happened in the first block of Juniper Road in Peach Bottom Township around 5 p.m.

A 71-year-old man from Delta was pulled from the fire and administered CPR but was ultimately declared deceased at 5:42 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Scott Pennewell.

The cause of the fire was not released, nor was the cause. or manner of death.The victim in this fire was later identified as Dale Ahmuty by the coroner's office.
